History
By the admittance of 30 students at undergraduate level in the field of agricultural machinery design, the field of Bio-systems Mechanical Engineering was established at Jahrom University in 2012. The students are admitted from all over the country. Currently, the department has three faculty members and two visiting professors.

Educational Objective
Educating and training specialized graduates in the agricultural industry who are self-sufficient in the agricultural industry, particularly in designing, manufacturing and producing agricultural machinery, harvesting and post-harvesting technologies, precision agriculture and the applying renewable energy in the agricultural industry.

Research Objective
Carrying out new research with the purpose of designing, manufacturing and evaluating mechanized equipment to be utilized for optimizing agricultural production and energy consumption of the equipment and removing manual labor from the process.

Operational Objective
Updating research on agricultural equipment and localization of equipment for agricultural use in different regions as well as promoting the self-sufficiency of the country.

Graduates will be able to work in all agriculture related industries, particularly those factories manufacturing the related equipment. The equipment and services used and offered by the industries include a broad range of tillage machines, planting, holding, harvesting and post-harvest agricultural products. The graduates can also be employed in such areas as renewable energy production and service companies as well as by government centers, including Agriculture Jihad organization, technical and professional centers, etc.
