Overview:
Horticultural Science and Engineering is consisted of a set of sciences, techniques and arts related to the recognition, development and improvement of new methods in reproducing, planting, growing, harvesting, maintaining the quality and reducing post-harvest waste, warehousing, processing and selling different garden products. The Bachelor's degree's duration is 4 years and the students are trained in the areas of planting fruits and vegetables, floriculture and cultivation of ornamental and medicinal plants, maintaining quality and reducing post-harvest waste of various horticultural products and traditional and modern methods of plants' genetic modification. 

History of the Department of Horticultural Science and Engineering:
The Department of Horticulture Science and Engineering was established in 2009. It currently has 6 faculty members who, in conjunction with the other departments of the faculty of Agriculture, are engaged in educational and research activities. The results of the past years show that the department has always benefited from moral, ethical, hardworking and creative students who have elevated the department to the one with remarkable admissions in postgraduate levels either through passing the entrance test or accepting through scientific interviews. It is worth mentioning that the students have been admitted, are studying or have been graduated with brilliant results and records from the top Iranian universities such as the universities of Shiraz, Tehran, Bahonar, etc. Moreover, a number of the students are studying at higher levels and have entered the job market as well.


Objectives:
Educational Objectives: As the specialization of garden and horticultural plants' cultivation requires the training and empowerment of young talents and the optimal use of new technology and science, the Department of Horticultural Science and Engineering has defined its main objective as to train and empower creative human sources and experts in  producing such  products as fruit trees, vegetables, medicinal and ornamental plants, grass and ground cover plants, as well as landscaping and who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and, emphasizing the protection of environment, are able to move towards the defined goals.
