About

Statistics:
Statistics is often designed with the aim of discovering the hidden rules of those phenomena that are subject to random change which per se, leads to the naming of statistics as the science of problem solving in the presence of random changes. Therefore, lack of certainty and change are the essential parts of statistics, which make statistical inferences to be often accompanied with error. From this perspective, one of the most significant goals of statistical methods is decision making based on the available information in such a way that the probability of error becomes as low as possible on the basis of that particular decision. Thus, regarding the significance and the application of the analysis of such data in decision makings, since 2011, Jahrom University took strides towards training those students who are capable of carrying out such analysis through mastering the statistical concepts and software. More that 60% of the students have also been accepted in master's degree, most of whom in top universities. The Department of Statistics has three full time faculty members whose areas of specialties are such fields as modeling and the analysis of temporal and spatial data, designing and analyzing experiments, modeling and exploring causal relationships among phenomena, classification and clustering, reliability, etc. This has turned the Department of Statistics to be able to practically carry out projects in engineering, agriculture and humanities. Moreover, the Department of Statistics pursue the following aims:
•    Increasing the number of published articles in peer-reviewed journals in order to improve the scientific position of the university;
•     Defining and carrying out projects which have the potential of being useful in solving regional and national problems;
•    Offering master's degree.

Mathematics and Applications:
The Department of Mathematics has been operating since 2007. More that 65% of the students in this department are accepted in higher education levels, most of whom in top universities. For example, the percentage of the students' admission in master's degree is over 75% in Shiraz University of Technology. Moreover, the students of this department have been graduated or are studying in PhD levels in the top universities in Iran.
The Department of Mathematics consists of 6 faculty members in Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics. The faculty members and their areas of specialties are as follows: 1- Dr. Ghorbani (Mathematical Analysis); 2- Dr. Baradaran (Mathematical Analysis); 3- Dr. Karimyar (Optimal Control); 4- Dr. Shahroozi (Equations); 5- Dr. Naghipour (Algebra); 6- Dr. Alimorad (Optimization of Shape).
It should also be noted that the Department of Mathematics of Jahrom University offers a master's degree in mathematical analysis for 7 years now.
While increasing the number of published articles and improving the academic rank of the university are among the short-term research goals of this department, offering other applied minors  such as operations research at master's degree is among the long-term research goals of the department.
Practically, this department has the potential to find solutions for the new problems and issues raised in developing industries and factories in today's society.
Moreover, the math courses of other departments, including more than 20 courses in each semester, are also offered and taught by this department

Physics:
Physics is the science of life and living. There are always questions raised in the human mind many of which can be answered by physics.
Most of the graduated students from this department are either admitted at postgraduate levels or have entered the labor market. This can be certified by the acceptance of more than 60% of the students in master's degree. This success can be attributed directly to the high quality of education at Jahrom University, the recruitment of elite professors in this department, as well as setting up such laboratories as Basic Physics, Optics and Solid-state ones.

Engineering Physics:
Engineering physics is one of the most significant interdisciplinary fields of study that explores advanced and applied topics and their methods of application in industry. This discipline is a combination of physics, chemistry, mathematics, and electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Through the history of science, the role of physics in the advancement of other sciences is an indication of the significance of this basic discipline. From industrial perspective, physics alongside engineering can have a great influence on the other fields of engineering. Engineering physics has been established as the connecting link between different fields of engineering, the purpose of which is to train graduates who are not only familiar with its advanced topics, but also have the knowledge of the its applications and the ability of engineering and proposing industrial plans in new physics.
